The Camel is being covered with white linen made in Belgium to the orignal 1916 British specification 9BSF1. Frayed tapes were supplied by the Vintage Aviator.
There is a mixture of machine and hand stitching required. The wing panels are sewn together with balloon stitch using a twin needle machine. Wings and ailerons need miles of tape and rib stitching and there are numerous patches. There are several clear dope layers then aluminium for top surfaces and the underside of the fuselage before painting.
